We are wrapping up our first round of seminars and student project cycles- ask your students what they learned, what they experienced, and check out their Headrush for their academic progress!

ASSESSMENTS UPDATES

  • Fall NWEA results will be shared out to all students and families soon. Stay tuned to your email!

  • In accordance with the READ Act students who were identified as qualifying for additional reading screening will be participating in a Capti assessment. If your student has test scores that will indicate a need for additional support, a member of the Child Find Committee will connect with you.

COUNSELING UPDATES

It’s College Knowledge Month and for this week and next all students will get to participate in an advisory lesson on choosing careers and learning about pathways to those careers. There is also a series of webinars hosted by the Office of Higher Education called “Minnesota Goes to College”. The remaining topics are all related to paying for college. Terra Nova proudly partners with the Office of Higher Education to participate in the Direct Admissions program. In fact we are the first competency-based program to join, and served as a model for other similar programs. For more information on the program, visit the website, HERE. Direct Admissions emails have gone out to all participating seniors! 

Groves Learning Organization is hosting a free workshop for parents around topics related to neurodiversity, support, and technology. For more information check out the registration page HERE.

Sherburne United Way is hosting a Community Connect Event on October 16th from 1-5 PM and it is open to Sherburne and Wright County residents. There will be tons of resources, free haircuts, and access to essential items. More information HERE.

CURRICULUM UPDATES

UPCOMING EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

  • More details to be released later, but Friday October 24th will be a field experience day for students

  • Friday November 14th will be an on campus project and club work day

  • Friday November 21st will be an Out of the Classroom Into the world Experience Day

UPCOMING SEMINARS

  • First seminar cycle ending on October 15th- talk to your students about what they accomplished in their morning seminar and afternoon Project Cycle!

  • Second seminar cycle begins on October 20th and will continue until November 27th

    • Drew M will be leading a middle school seminar titled “Ecosystem Explorers”

    • Greg Z will be leading a middle school seminar titled “What Makes Us Different Makes Us The Same“

    • Les H will be leading a high school seminar titled “Cultural Wisdom Traditions”

OPERATIONS UPDATES

Terra Nova is volunteering at the Monticello Downtown Trick or Treat event on Thursday, October 23rd. If you can volunteer to help out, please contact Craig (craigw@terranovamn.org). Otherwise, if you can make time to stop on down, HERE is the website for more information.

SCHOOL BOARD UPDATES

The next school board meeting is on October 21st at 4:30 in the Lodge.

On November 18th, we will hold our Annual Meeting to review the Annual Report with the Terra Nova Community. This will be at 3:30 in the Lodge.
