Today was something special on campus! Our community circles came full circle with advisory games that had everyone smiling. Speaking of which, our talks were pure fire 🔥 - or should we say pure H2? From hydrogen to healthy habits, the knowledge dropped harder than our afternoon energy levels! Our Conservation Crew has officially adopted 2 drains with @adoptadrainmn and started the process to adopt a stormwater pond with the City of Buffalo. This is a volunteer program that involves cleaning our stormwater drains and stormwater ponds for cleaner waterways and healthier communities. Storm drains flow directly to local lakes, rivers, and wetlands, acting as a conduit for trash and organic pollutants. All aboard! 🚂 Last Friday, Maria and Greg took experiential learning to the next level through learning about different modes of public transit. We hopped on the NorthStar train, hitched a ride on the lightrail, and even caught a bus - it was a real transportation sensation! 🚌🚉 We learned some valuable skills like reading schedules, purchasing tickets, and navigating terminals. Terra Nova - Meet New Staff Feature | Shaefer Wiese | Position: Educational Support Staff. Shaefer graduated from the University of Minnesota with his bachelor's degree and he is currently a graduate student at the University of Wisconsin River Falls going for a master's in School Counseling. He is incredibly excited to be working directly with students at Terra Nova! In Shaefer's spare time, he enjoys playing with and taking care of his dogs and watching all Minnesota sports. 🦇Terra Nova is celebrating Bat Week! 🦇Bat Week is an international, annual celebration designed to raise awareness about the need for bat conservation. Bats are amazing creatures that are vital to the health of our natural world and economy. Although we may not always see them, bats are hard at work all around the world each night - eating tons of insects🦟, pollinating flowers🌺, and spreading seeds that grow new plants and trees 🌱.
